Got Questions?
You’re not alone. Here are answers to some of the most common questions from families considering Kipe Academy.
Our process begins with alignment—these answers will help you determine if our model is the right fit for your family.
1
Why do phone calls goes to voicemail?
We do not have a front office staff available during the school day. When we are with students, we are fully present with them.
You are welcome to leave a voicemail or send a text message. Text messages typically receive a quicker response.
2
Do you offer phone calls or tours before applying?
No. We begin with our Interest Form to ensure alignment before scheduling any calls, tours, or next steps.
This helps us protect our learning environment and build strong partnerships from the start.
3
What type of student is a good fit for Kipe Academy?
Kipe Academy is a good fit for students who are open to growing in both independence and responsibility.
Students are expected to participate in learning, stay engaged during instruction, and take increasing ownership of their work and behavior.
Our model is intentionally small and relationship-centered, and works best for families who are aligned with these expectations and ready to partner with us.
4
How does a multi-age class work?
Students complete a pre-assessment in reading and math to determine their current level.
They receive targeted instruction in small groups based on ability, not age. During whole group learning, all students engage with the same content, with tasks adjusted based on their level.
5
Will there be kids my child's age in the program?
We serve a range of ages, and most students do have peers close in age.
At Kipe Academy, we also support students in building relationships based on shared interests, connection, and comfort—not just age. Many students form meaningful friendships across age groups.
6
What does the daily microschool schedule look like?
Students attend a morning academic program focused on reading, writing, and math through small group instruction and independent work.
Additional time on campus may be available for students who are enrolled in the academic session.
The full structure and expectations are shared with families as they move through our alignment process.
7
Do you give homework?
No. We value family time and want students to be able to rest, connect, and recharge at home.
8
Do I need to buy school supplies?
No. Required materials are provided, and families are not expected to purchase additional supplies.
9
Do students wear uniforms?
No. Students wear regular clothing with closed-toe shoes.
Kipe Academy spirit shirts are required for field trips and may be worn at any time.
10
Do you provide transportation?
No. Families are responsible for transportation to and from school, as well as for field trips.
11
Is food provided?
No. We do not provide breakfast or lunch.
Students should bring a healthy lunch each day.
12
Why don’t you celebrate birthdays or holidays at school?
We honor the diversity of our families and community.
To ensure all students feel safe, respected, and included—regardless of cultural or religious background—we do not celebrate birthdays or holidays at school.
Instead, we focus on shared values like kindness, gratitude, and connection in ways that include everyone.
13
When is your enrollment window?
Our main enrollment period opens at the end of January, aligned with National School Choice Week and the Florida scholarship window.
We also host Curiosity Day during this time for families to visit and learn more about our program.
Enrollment may remain open based on availability.
14
Do you have a waitlist?
Kipe Academy is intentionally small, and spaces are limited.
When classes are full, aligned families may be placed on our interest list. Openings are offered based on alignment, classroom balance, and available space—not solely on the order of inquiry.
The first step is to complete our Interest Form.
