Every Child Deserves to Be Known
By Tonya Kipe, Founder & Executive Director of Kipe Academy
If I had to summarize Kipe Academy in one sentence, this might be it: Every child deserves to be known.
Not just by name. Known. Known for what makes them laugh. Known for the books they love. Known for the challenges they're working through. Known for the gifts they may not even recognize in themselves yet.
I've met children who were convinced they weren't good at school. What they really needed wasn't a label. They needed someone who saw their potential before they could see it themselves. I've watched quiet students become confident leaders. I've seen reluctant readers discover books they couldn't put down. I've watched children realize they're capable of much more than they believed.
Those moments don't happen by accident. They happen because someone took the time to truly know them. That's the heart of Kipe Academy. We're not trying to create students who all look the same. We're helping each child discover who they are, how they learn, and how they can contribute to the world around them.
Because when children know they are seen, valued, and loved, they begin to believe something incredibly important:
"I can do hard things." And that's a lesson that lasts far beyond the classroom.
