Umbrella Program

Our Umbrella Program is a non-campus-based private school for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. While it serves as a support system for home education, students enrolled in this program are legally recognized as private school students in the state of Florida.

Families remain the primary educators, choosing their own curriculum and teaching methods. Kipe Academy offers support and guidance when needed, including resource suggestions and optional access to our online learning platform for math and reading.

Who Can Enroll:

• Self-Pay Families

• UA Scholarship Families: May enroll but must self-pay the enrollment fee and tuition. UA funds can be used for Kipe Academy’s tutoring sessions or weekend workshops.

• PEP Scholarship Families: Not eligible for this program due to current scholarship restrictions.

Included in Enrollment:

• Attendance reporting to the State Board of Education

• Invitations to Kipe Academy field trips and events

• Optional STAR testing and review

• Annual portfolio review (required for all umbrella students)

• Ongoing support via email or phone

 

Attendance & Evaluation:
Florida law requires 180 instructional days per year. Families maintain a daily attendance log, and Kipe Academy submits official records to the state. Portfolios must be kept for a minimum of two years and include a log of educational activities and work samples.

Enrollment Requirements:
To enroll, you must withdraw your child from their current school:

• If transferring from public/private school: Notify the school that your child is enrolling in a private school.

• If registered as a homeschooler with the district: Submit a Notice of Termination to the superintendent.
