What Makes Kipe Academy Different?
By Tonya Kipe, Founder & Executive Director of Kipe Academy
Families often ask, "What makes Kipe Academy different?"
The honest answer is that it's not just one thing. It's the way all the little things come together.
Yes, our classrooms are intentionally small.
Yes, we believe in hands-on learning.
Yes, we use engaging HOT Topic units that connect subjects together.
But those are really just the tools. The difference is how we see children. We don't believe every student needs the exact same path to be successful. Some students need more time. Some need more challenge. Some need encouragement before they'll take a risk. Some need someone who notices the quiet victories. Our job is to meet children where they are and help them grow from there.
You'll also notice something else when you visit Kipe Academy. There's a sense of community. Older students encourage younger ones. Families know one another. Teachers celebrate successes together. Children learn that kindness isn't just a classroom rule—it's part of who we are.
Our simple expectation to "Be Nice" isn't about avoiding conflict. It's about learning to respect others, solve problems, include people, and build healthy relationships.
Education isn't only about preparing students for the next grade level. It's about preparing them for life. If families leave a tour remembering one thing, I hope it's this: Kipe Academy isn't trying to be different for the sake of being different. We're simply trying to create the kind of learning environment every child deserves—one where they are known, challenged, encouraged, and inspired to become the very best version of themselves.
